Significant employment opportunities exist in the Construction / Project Execution Phase and Operations.

GAC represents an organisation built on best practice management, technology, processes and equipment.  GAC also provides its employees with exposure to the expertise, learnings and proven systems of its shareholder companies.

Construction Opportunities

Bechtel is the engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contractor engaged by GAC to undertake project execution activities.  Recruitment during this phase will be managed by Bechtel.

Examples of skills and expertise likely to be required during this phase of activity include civil work, concreting, steel fixing, metal fabrication and electrical cabling. 

Operations Opportunities

Operations of the bauxite mine and alumina refinery will be managed directly by GAC.

The operations workforce will be comprised of local and non-local personnel.  Over time, the organisational goal is to transition to a predominantly locally operated refinery.  A significant training and mentoring program will be implemented to achieve this.

Although full operations is not expected to occur for several years, recruitment and training to prepare the workforce for operations will commence in the short term (within three years). 

The types of skills and expertise required for operations is likely to include processing, maintaining, mining, port operations, engineering, finance, administration, human resources and information technology.
